Happiness Hack - Music

Happiness Hack - Music

Remember back in December when there were all of those end of year rituals? New Year motivators?

"What's your word? Is your vision board on display? Did you shed your snake skin? Burn your journals? Start a new habit?

It felt so big at the time, like such an opportunity to do things differently.

I went all in. I did this Solstice ritual where I wrote out 13 intentions and burned all but one...

Highly recommend, by the way. Here's a link to a great breakdown of how to do it.

(Frankly, I don't think you can only do it in December, do what feels right for you.)

Anyway, the intention that stayed with me was "Listen to more music" and I was like, meh. It seemed anticlimactic at the time.

Well, let me tell you something my friend. Listen to more music? Life. Changing.

It's happened in such subtle ways, it hasn't even felt like I've been trying to listen to more music and it didn't happen overnight. But as I write this there is music playing in my house. That feels new - or revisited.

The result? I feel more connected to myself. I feel more confident, and I'm having more fun.

This morning, I was looking for a vibe to get into before three back-to-back zoom calls. I scanned my podcasts and nothing sparked. So I hit shuffle on an old playlist. A song came on.

Next thing I knew I was dancing around my kitchen, FEELING myself as I set up for my calls.

This week I invite you to listen to a song. In your kitchen, in your car, notice what plays in the grocery store...

How does it make you feel?

It's simple, but this little happiness hack can have a huge impact. Bringing moments of joy, moments of happiness, moments that remind us of who we are.

I don't know about you, but I want to live in a world where I know there are lots of people dancing in their kitchens and singing at the top of their lungs in their cars. Even if it's just for a minute or two.

Ps. Here's the song that came on in my kitchen this morning: https://open.spotify.com/track/4U6GYrZi0xvNkUmFitCDED?si=ab49af2a9613424a

What's the first song that comes on for you?
