Pretty Happy — art RSS

This ones for you! A love letter.

Oh, Haaaay there friend! Here I am, sitting in the man chair in my happy place (the shop), reflecting on all the wonderful souls who have come into my life through this business over the years.  In fact, I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately and thinking about what parts of my business really make me tick. What lights me up? I always thought it was the jewelry, the creating. Making pretty things, happy things. But I'm realizing more and more that it's actually not that. It's the people. It's YOU. Shards of light - 5 personal tools to fight depression

Yellow greens are slowly and surely emerging from the long grey Maine winter, and I too, am having moments of brightness and new life, ideas, excitement. But then, days like this still feel slow.  So, I'm about to get ugly real. This is a truth I've agonized over whether to share, it being so raw and personal. My brand is about creating happiness and spreading joy and that is incredibly important to me. I also feel that it's important to share what's really behind it. I also know that the best Mother's Day gifts happen year-round, in small moments. And any expression of love and appreciation from your child goes a long...

Frida Kahlo -pretty flower love

Frida Kahlo is one of my all time favorite artists. I'm still studying her life and work. She was a brilliant painter, lover of love, feeler of pain, and appreciator of flowers. I'll take it. All. Kahlo is a wealth of inspiration! Not only her art, but her style, her pain and her love of beauty.  At the age of 18, Frida was in a horrible accident in Mexico City. What followed was a lifetime of surgeries, traction and painting while bedridden.  One of my favorite paintings is "The Broken Column" giving us a view of Frida's broken insides. This inspired the first piece in my Frida collection. And my other favorite is The Two Fridas. This painting inspired me to make two Frida's Hearts necklaces....
